Artwork for Sale

Imagine if a store required you to read their sales list before allowing you to enter. Even if it only took 15 seconds, would you visit that store again?

If your Web site's home page contains too many graphics, you're basically doing the same thing to your members. Graphics generally load much more slowly than text. A sharp-looking Web site may be fun to look at, but if it takes 30 seconds for your members to download the page, they're probably not going to visit your site very often, despite the other benefits.

Creating attractive graphics that can be downloaded quickly is difficult. Just because a photograph looks great on the cover of your printed brochure doesn't mean it will enhance your Web site. Creating attractive graphics that effectively promote your services is a double bonus. We can do it!

A banner ad is a promotional graphic that appears at the top of a web page, announcing some special credit union event. They are very effective as marketing tools. They liven up a page and, if rotated through on a regular basis, they're ample evidence that your site is a vibrant, active resource for members.

Where are the best places to position banner ads on your web site? The two key factors are visibility and relevancy. The two most visited pages on any credit union site are (1) the home page and (2) the sign-on page for your home banking product. You should also consider placing banner ads on other less visited pages if they're relevant. For example, if you have a special Car Sale this month, you may want to promote it on your Car Services page.

We have a few sample banner advertisements online. The purpose of these examples is to show how easily we can create an attractive and effective banner ad. If you're interested in getting a banner ad on your web site, contact Karen at cumaster@cuonline.com. Note that placement options will vary depending on your web vendors.

A banner ad is not always a good addition to every your Web site. If your page is already brimming with color and download speeds are a concern, we'll discuss this with you frankly, rather than selling you a glitzy gimmick you don't need. Expect honest, reliable advice from us!

Calculators for Sale

"Should I be refinancing right now? Is that 0% APR offer at the car dealership in my best interests? Am I saving enough for my retirement and two college educations?"

One of the most effective ways to help your members make sound financial decisions is to provide them with online calculators. Choose from the following options:

  • Savings calculator
This is useful when wondering how much a savings account will earn over time. You could refer members to this calculator when promoting special certificate offers.

  • "What If" Savings Planning Calculator
Unlike the Savings calculator (which calculates interest on a lump sum), this calculator estimates future savings in accounts with regular monthly deposits. This is useful when marketing holiday savings and retirement accounts.

  • Loan calculator
This performs standard loan calculations. You could mention this calculator when selling car loans or home equity loans.

  • Loan Comparison calculator
Car dealers sell a lot of loans these days, but your members could usually save money by getting their loan through the Credit Union. Offer your members this calculator, and allow them to do side-by-side comparisons to find out who really offers them the best deal!

  • Mortgage Payment calculator
Few things are more frightening than the thought of a mortgage. If you offer home loans, post this calculator on your site and show members you're there to help!

  • Refinancing calculator?
No one has asked for one yet, but a refinancing calculator would made a great addition to anyone's site. Please let me know if you're interested in building one.

We charge $250 per calculator; this includes the creation of the page that contains the calculator with the text and formatting of your choice.

Are you interested in adding more calculators to your Web site? Contact Karen at cumaster@cuonline.com, and let's discuss your options!

CU*Online Monthly Maintenance Plan

This plan requires you to prepay your first hour's worth of work for six months in advance. The upswing? That first hour of work costs a mere $50 -- a savings of up to $120 over that period! This is an incentive program which encourages you to keep your Web site current by investing at least an hour's worth of changes each month.

If you don't have your own domain name, you can "sublet" space from CU*Online as part of this program. You'll still have to pay for the design work, but www.CUonline.com/YourSite will be hosted at no additional cost when you're part of the CU*Online maintenance program.

Web Site Analysis

New browser standards, P3P formats, 508 government regulations... the criteria that makes a Web site "good" are changing constantly. Is your Web site meeting your members' current needs? Even if your site is only two years old, this is an important question to be asking.

For example, if your Web site was designed for viewing on a monitor with an 640x480 pixel resolution, it's obsolete. Major computer manufacturers have been delivering monitors set at 1024x768 for over a year now and yes, it is VERY annoying to scroll down a Web page that occupies barely half your available screen space.

Consider performing a "CU*ONLINE Site Analysis" once a year. We'll review the contents of your site and point out any concerns. Not only will we talk about new trends, we'll also check your site logs to analyze your web traffic and its implications for online marketing.

To set up your CU*ONLINE Site Analysis, contact us at (952) 829-0819 ext.2 or at cumaster@cuonline.com. Let's make it an annual date!

Browser Upgrades

The internet world is changing rapidly. Your Web site may look fine on your computer, but how does it look to your members at home?

The appearance of your site will vary depending on the web browser your members are using. Even the version of the web browser makes a difference. Some earlier browsers do not support new features, while newer releases of major browsers are configured to process Java code applets differently, in the wake of newer "smart" viruses.

How does your Web site stand up to testing with these new browsers? I'll test your site thoroughly for a one-time $250 fee. If you're a maintenance customer, I can make any required adjustments immediately. Otherwise you will receive a detailed list of issues and specific workaround instructions. If you're interested in this offer, contact us at (952) 829-0819 ext.2 or at cumaster@cuonline.com.
